About

Hi everyone!

My name is Jess and I am a U.K. based book lover, I have created this blog to share my love of books and reading with other people around the world.

Reading has not always been enjoyable for me, from a young age it was always forced upon me to read book, "reading is great for you, it is a mandatory part of your learning", as many of you may know, when you are forced to do something it becomes less enjoyable. However, in the back of my mind, I have always enjoyed those moments where I was reading just for me, without any of that outside pressure. The first time I remember enjoying a book was in primary school, year 6 to be precise, and we started reading Michael Morpurgo books, after this moment my love for Private Peaceful and War Horse had grown exponentially. Although by the time I reached secondary school this love diminished. Each week our reading had to be tracked and if you were not making enough progress the teachers would force an "intervention", this had made me lose the childhood wonder that was created.

I did not pick up a book willingly again until lockdown 2020. During the peak of the pandemic, when we were all stuck in our homes with nothing to do, I discovered DracoTok, now I know what you're all going to say, but being on this side of TikTok brought out my childhood feelings and wonders. I did what every teenage girl went on at the time, Wattpad. Here I read many Harry Potter fanfics, from Draco Malfoy to the Weasley twins, I would sit for hours on my bed, in the garden or in the lounge reading these books which in some cases were estimated to take over 24 hours to read. Once I had read pretty much the entirety of the fanfics available to me, I moved on to dark romance books on Wattpad, and boy let me tell you, a 16 year old girl should not have been reading these. From here I gradually moved on to published books, with my book genre expanding from dark romance/mafia romance to small town romance books. If romance is in the book I will read it.
