Age gap? Check. Brother’s best friend? Check. Small town romance with a cowboy? Check, check, check. This book has pretty much everything you would want in a romance novel put into one, while there were moments that felt a bit stagnant, overall, this book enthralled me. From the steamy moments to the heart throb moments, this book will leave you wondering if you yourself can find a grumpy cowboy.
Nadia is the strong-minded heroine. She comes from an abusive household growing up, involving alcohol and physical abuse, when her father passes away, she moves to Canada to be with her older brother. Here, she works for her sister-in-law in a vet clinic as a vet tech, however, she has an aspiring dream to be a vet.
Griffin is a retired football player, due to an injury while playing he developed a stutter but let me tell you that stutter doesn’t stop him from saying naughty things in the bedroom. He is seen to be a quiet and rude person to most people, he rarely talks because he is self-conscious of his stutter, which gets worse with stress, his way of talking is through grunting, sounds like your typical grumpy X sunshine book. Nadia is the one person who Griffin doesn’t stutter to when he talks to her, showing how good their connection really is.
We are first introduced to Griffin when he finds Nadia in the men’s bathroom making out with a guy, Tommy, who by all accounts is sloppy and a cheat. Tommy leaves Nadia in the bathroom disappointed with his performance, but all that disappointment leaves when Nadia locks eyes onto Griffin. Feeling brave Nadia decides to ask him to kiss her, to get her to feel what a good kiss feels like, and oh is this a hot kiss. Nadia later finds out that this stranger isn’t a stranger at all and is instead her brother’s best friend, whom she has a 14-year age gap with.
Griffin is hiding something from his past... can they get through it?
We then follow the ups and downs of their blossoming relationship, with a few spicy scenes in between 😉. If you are looking for sexy cowboys and age gaps, this book is for you! Don’t forget to read any content warnings before reading this book.
